Dolphins' Tyreek Hill detained for driving violation, will play

Miami Gardens, Fla. -- Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill was briefly detained by police on Sunday near Hard Rock Stadium for a traffic violation but has since been released, the team confirmed.

The incident occurred about a block away from the stadium. Several of Hill’s teammates witnessed the situation and stopped to offer their support, according to the team’s statement.

Despite the event, Hill is expected to be available for the Dolphins’ season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

According to sources from ESPN's Jeff Darlington, Hill was pulled over for speeding and then got into a verbal confrontation with police, leading to him being temporarily handcuffed. He was later cited for reckless driving, the sources added.

Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, described the situation as "heartbreaking" and "completely unnecessary." He emphasized the importance of ensuring Hill was treated fairly, expressing disbelief over seeing him in handcuffs.

“We will be looking into this matter,” Rosenhaus stated, adding that his primary concern is Hill’s well-being and thanking the team for helping to calm the situation.

Earlier that day, a video surfaced showing Hill in handcuffs, surrounded by several police officers.
